ICMRA praised with ‘Global Award for Outstanding Contribution to Health’ at DIA 2023

ICMRA has received the Global Award for Outstanding Contribution to Health at the Drug Information Associations (DIA) Global Annual Meeting. With the award, the DIA honours people, groups or organisations who have made significant and innovative contributions to advancing global health.

“This award is a recognition of the value that the ICMRA platform brings to global public health. It shows that regulatory agencies from different parts of the world can align strategic priorities, reach a consensus and recommend activities with a tremendous impact on patients from all corners of the world. We will continue this work,” said Emer Cooke, EMA’s Executive Director and ICMRA’s chair.

“Fighting the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that when we deal with global health, we must act together: regulators, industry, and academia to achieve the best results. We must ensure confidence in the products we approve and we must cooperate, allowing the exchange of experiences and information. In times of crisis, there are no individual answers, if it’s not a solution for all, it’s not a solution at all,” said Dr Antonio Barra Torres, President of the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) and ICMRA’s Vice-Chair, who represented ICMRA at the award ceremony.

The conference took place in Boston between 25 and 29 June. It brought together regulators, academics, industry and patients to discuss global and local challenges in the life sciences community.
